Republicans tend to favor granting individual State governments the right of authority within its borders. For example, Republicans would prefer that each individual State determine its own speed limit.
Difference #19 The United Nations
Should an individual Nation have a right to allow something to be legal or illegal within that country's borders or should the United Nations have that authority over all Nations? Whenever there is a disagreement on this question;
Democrats tend to favor granting the United Nations the right of authority over individual Nations. For example, the Democrat party would prefer that America sign on with the United Nations global pollution reducing plan called "the Kyoto Protocol" Democrats see the United Nations as an authority over America and all nations in the same way that the federal government is an authority over all the states.
Republicans tend to favor protecting the American government's right to govern itself. For example, the Republican party would prefer that each individual Nation set its own pollution reducing laws instead of forcing America to comply with the expensive burdens of the United Nation's Kyoto Protocol. Republicans see the United Nations as a PowWow, or gathering of Chiefs, to share ideas, needs and complaints in the same way that the 50 American state goveners meet to discuss issues.
Difference #20 The Individual
Should an individual have complete authority to determine what can or cannot be done to their own body? Whenever there is a disagreement on this question;
The Democrat party tends to favor allowing the individual to have final authority in deciding the fate, form and function of that individual's own body.
The Republican party tends to favor allowing the government to have final authority in deciding the fate, form and function of an individual's own body.

Because the Democrat Party works to eliminate the hardships and correct the injustices of powerful corporations (DIFF #7) they will fight to prevent the harmful addiction and health hardships of tobacco smoking.
Because the Republican party works to eliminate the hardships and correct the injustices of powerful governments (DIFF #7) Republicans will fight to protect the liberty of those who smoke tobacco even though they may not agree with, or want to participate in this activity.
Because Republicans want to protect Society from what they see as harmful changes (DIFF #5) they will fight to prevent the harmful social change of legalized pot smoking.
